Franco-Ouest students help to raise money for Tibetan refugee seniors

Time: Wednesday October, 11th, 2007 at 11 am
Place: College catholique Franco-Ouest, 411 Seyton Drive, Bells Corners

Students from College catholique Franco-Ouest have spent 30 hours painting a 20' x 10' thangka or mural of the Dalai Lama’s winter residence, the Potala Palace, in Tibet. This mammoth effort is to help Ottawa Friends of Tibet raise funds for building a seniors home for destitute exiled Tibetan refugees in Kalimpong, India. The students will donate the painting to Jurme Wangda, President of Ottawa Friends of Tibet on Wednesday October, 11th at 11:00 am at their school. The Ottawa Friends of Tibet will hang the giant painting on the stage at their Benefit Dinner on Friday October 13th at the Centurion Conference Centre. For details about the event, check out www.oft.ca. The students will be volunteers at the fundraising dinner. Barbara Haddad, Franco-Ouest's teacher who visited the Tibetan refugees in their humble homes, is a volunteer with Ottawa Friends of Tibet.
